March 21, League Choir Festival: Everett Civic Auditorium. Women's Choir 9:40am, Chamber Choir Noon
                      Choirs leave 1st period and return before the end of the school day.  Bring brown bag lunch.
 
March 23 - 27 Choir auditions for 2017-2018 (Chamber Choir and Jazz Ensemble)
 
April 10, Class Solo Projects due.
 
April 23, Voices of Hope Concert - Our Saviour's Lutheran Church 2pm - Jazz Ensemble and other community choirs perform a benefit concert for our local chapter of "Housing Hope".
 
May 24, Spring Choir Concert, "One Hit Wonders" at SHS PAC 7pm, Free Admission - All SHS Choirs

Required Apparel

Women’s Choir clothing:

 Black from the waist down – calf length skirt or dress slacks, black closed - toe shoes or flats (NO high heels).  Jewel tone solid colored shirt with at least a partial sleeve and a three-finger collar neck.  Jewel tones are darker shades of colors like red, maroon, blue, purple, and green.  No white, bright, or neon colors please.

Chamber Choir clothing

Dress (under robe): Guys - Dark dress pants (Khaki o.k.), black or brown dress shoes

Girls – Slacks, skirt, closed - toe brown or black dress shoes or flats

(NO high heels)

Guys & Girls - Shirts should have a low collar (so it is covered by the choir robe)

Jazz Ensemble Clothing

            Jazz shirts, khaki pants, dress shoes (brown or black)


  Course Offerings in the Choral Music Department:

  Chamber Choir

            Chamber Choir is a performance-based class intended for auditioned 10TH through 12TH graders. It is designed to be a well balanced, high-quality soprano, alto, tenor, bass choir. Chamber Choir learns a broad repertoire of music and performs at school, in the community, and at contests. Students develop their voice in groups while improving their individual technique and music theory skills.

  Women’s Choir

            Women’s Choir/Treble is a performance based class for women singers in the soprano and alto range. The group has approximately six performances per year. Students develop their voice in groups while improving their individual technique and music theory skills.   

  Jazz Ensemble

            Jazz Ensemble is a performance-based class intended for auditioned 10TH through 12TH graders. Jazz Ensemble learns repetoire mainly from the Jazz and Rock genres.  All singers in the group must also be enrolled in a large group music performing ensemble.

  Guitar

            This year two sections are offered. The class focuses on exploring music through learning guitar with emphasis on note reading, chords, and music theory.

The students are required to provide their own classical, acoustic or folk guitar.
